"The End" (Jim Morrison, The Doors)

What a resounding success the CMBA Movies of 1939 Blogathon has been!  Page and I are both really amazed at the incredible quality of every contribution.  It is clear that the CMBA bloggers really put their all into their articles.  There was a great amount of reading and commenting to do, and it was well worth it.  Part of the blogathon's success is the choices of lesser known movies, all of which are going on the list of must-see films. Those who did the well-known greats did so in their own unique styles, discussing those films by spotlighting aspects rarely discussed.  Many thanks to everybody.  The CMBA is lucky to have so many classic film lovers who are not only educated in the field, but are such good writers too.  Congratulations!

  1. Becky and Page did a great job organizing this blogathon. Just want to thank you for all you did. I also want to add that the level of the presentations from all was inspiring and a bit over whelming in attempting to visit everyone. Admittedly, I have failed in that attempt but will try to hit a few more.

  2. I agree that Page and Becky did a spectacular job! Maybe they could be our permanent blogathon coordinators (scared you, B&P, didn't I?). Thanks to everyone who participated; I enjoyed reading all the marvelous reviews and learned quite a bit. An extra shout-out to those who commented at the Classic Film & TV Cafe--your feedback is what makes blogging fun.

  3. Hmmm, I just posted a response to you, Rick, and it mysteriously disappeared. Does that have anything to do with the fact that you are at the master switch? LO!

What I said was that Page and I would be thrilled to do another blogathon -- in 2015!!

  4. Just wanted to add my thanks for all the great work you did for the blogathon; and also for a great choice of films from bloggers, from famous to obscure, in all genres, and from many studios -- and even from countries other than the US. I'm very happy and proud to be a member of the CMBA and to be part of such a sterling group of classic-movie fans and writers.

  5. I'm still working my way through all of the wonderful entries, but I also want to send out an extra-special "THANK YOU!" to the hardworking duo of Page and Becky for organizing this whole shindig. I think all the participants did a wonderful job!

  6. Had a great time with this, both coming up with my own entry at "Carole & Co." and reading the others. Thank you so much for the opportunity.

  7. A special thanks to the CMBA for allowing us to co-produce this one. The reviews were excellent and the films chosen were delightful. I feel very honored to be a part of such a thoughtful, smart and clever group of people.

I've now had a good nights sleep so if everyone else is ready let's plan another one for next week! YAY! Okay, that might be a bit too soon but I'm certainly not apposed to doing another one in the future.

    Well Done everyone!

  8. Becky, Page, you did a stellar job of putting this massive but marvelous 1939 Blogathon together! You both deserve tons of accolades and a nice vacation to recover from your hard work! :-) I really enjoyed this opportunity to check out the work of other CMBA bloggers I'd been meaning to read, and I found lots of new favorites. Now I have to get better at organizing my time so I won't miss anyone's awesome blogs! Thanks for your great work, gals!

  9. I, too, am a tad behind in reading the entries for the blogathon (I'm catching up, I swear) but I'd like to second what Rick said about the outstanding choices that were made between both A-films and the B-product. It made the event much more well-rounded, in my opinion, and to read about each film in the respective style of each blogger helped tremendously as well.

The only quibble I have is that when you plan to sucker Becky and Page into volunteering for a future blogathon this is best accomplished by distracting them with shiny objects or sending them out of the room for snacks so that there's very little chance of any vocal opposition from them. (Okay, I am kidding about this -- both of you did an amazing job, and I bestow upon you many high-fives and victory laps in recognition of your tireless efforts!)

  10. Ivan, how did you know that we were tricked into signing a blogathon contract while colored beads and wampum were being dangled in front of us?
