Interested in Joining the Classic Movie Blog Association (CMBA)?

Your blog must have existed for a minimum of ninety days and meet the following criteria:

1. Content cannot contain obscene, indecent, or profane material or links to such material. Mild profanity and nudity are acceptable, especially in context of describing a film. A good rule of thumb is that a member's blog must comply with U.S. network television standards on the occasional use of mild profanity, nudity, and gore.

2. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. If short excerpts of copyrighted material are used, the original source and author must be cited.

3. A substantial amount of blog content must be devoted to classic films (e.g., as opposed to current films).

4. New content should be published on a regular basis (at least monthly).

5. The purpose of a blog cannot be to expressly sell merchandise or promote a business that sells merchandise. Blogs can be monetized, contain advertisements, and contain links to businesses (providing that is not the site’s sole purpose).

6. You must adhere to the highest blogging standards in terms of providing content that is accurate, well-written, informative, and entertaining.

If your blog meets about the above criteria and you are interested in joining the CMBA, send an e-mail inquiry to classic.movie.blog.assoc@gmail.com. Current members vote on accepting new ones. It takes about two weeks to receive a response about your membership inquiry.

Hello. My blog is called "A Person in the Dark," and is written from the fan perspective. It is dedicated to the love of all stars & films and, as well as an appreciation, it is a place for the author to have some "creative" fun with the stars. The web address is www.flickchick1953.blogspot.com
I hope to hear from you soon!
Regards,
Marsha

I would be interested in joining the CMBA. My blog is a search into the movies featured in the book 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. I do not take a traditional movie review approach. I see a film and may give opinions on the film or write a story about the characters in the film or whatever else comes into my head.

I'd like to participate in CMBA, if you'll have me! :-) My weekly blog, TALES OF THE EASILY DISTRACTED (TotED), has been live since August 2010, covering all kinds of comedy-thriller movies and fiction from the 1930s to the present day. For example, my latest blog post covered NORTH BY NORTHWEST. Whatever you decide, keep up the great work you're doing! :-)

I am interested in being a member of the CMBA. I have had a blog since July 2010. A good # of my blogs are classics OR inspired by classics. An example, my latest post, reviewing "Frozen" is inspired by "Lifeboat" except on a chairlift. I publish whenever I see a movie which is once every one to two weeks. My blog is pretty high standard. I don't believe anybody here has reviewed Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train" but I would be delighted to show mine on your site.

Well, I'd like to join in as well if I can. Promise to keep blogging and trying to be positive and original (and to not take up too much of everyone's time!). I'm aiming to - mostly - highlight the overlooked classics. And to point out where they're available or plead for someone to re-release/upgrade.

For example..."Beggars of Life: Criterion...please!!

I have a photo taken in 1950 or 1951 with Bob Hope and a beautiful Blonde hollywood star posing with my father at a military base. I'd like to find out who the blonde is. Is there anyway I can contact you to possibly identify the unknown beauty?

Howling Mad, you need to administer your own blog to join the CMBA. If you have a classic movie blog that meets the CMBA guidelines, you're welcome to join. Just send an e-mail to address above.

What's the criteria for "classics"? Is there a cut-off year?

Rick29 said...

That's always a point of discussion with classic film fans! But, as a general rule, nothing later than the 1980s is considered "classic."

I would like to be a member of course. I created my blog-Classic Movie-World-all about classic movies in 2009. I am interested in networking with fellow enthusiasts. You are also welcome to join with me as well at my site. I will send an email. Thanks!

I would be interested in becoming involved with the Classic Movie Blog Association. I am new to the computer and blogging but an old hand at classic films (I am a 65 year old disabled veteran with a film collection of over 900 films, virtually all of them classics). I have just begun my blog; in fact, I am still in the process of constructing and editing but it is my hope to blog on a classic film every few weeks. I would appreciate your consideration. Cordially, fumanchu32

If a potential member has been denied can they reapply when new members are admitted in January or do they have a longer window?
